Synopsis

The film was shot in Nogai, a language spoken by the Nogai Turks, one of the minority Turkic peoples of Russia. Bakiyev developed this short film project as part of the young filmmakers’ workshop at the prestigious Hero and Time International Film Festival held in Russia, where he presented it to the jury. During the project’s development, renowned Russian filmmakers, actors, and producers mentored the young director. The film highlights the importance of preserving the local Nogai culture, traditions, and national identity in the North Caucasus. The dombra, an ancient two-stringed Turkic musical instrument, serves as the central symbol of this cultural heritage and the enduring connection to one’s roots.
